TL;DR
Recurly is offline-first. No account required. If you never sign in, no data ever leaves your device — period. If you sign in for cloud sync, we store only what's needed: your name, email, and subscription data. No ads. No analytics. No selling your data. You can delete everything, permanently, at any time from within the app.
Offline by default
Recurly works entirely on your device without an internet connection. Your subscription data is stored locally using Hive — nothing leaves your phone unless you explicitly choose to sign in and enable cloud sync.
What we collect (only if you sign in)
If you sign in with Google, Email, or Apple to enable cloud sync, we store the following on Firebase:
- Your display name, email address, and profile photo URL — provided by your auth provider
- Your subscription data: names, prices, billing cycles, and categories
- Household membership info, if you create or join a household
That's it. Nothing else. Sign-in is completely optional — if you never sign in, zero data ever leaves your device.
What we never collect
We have no interest in collecting data beyond what's strictly needed for sync to work.
- No device IDs or advertising identifiers
- No IP address logging
- No usage analytics or behavior tracking
- No crash reporting SDKs
- No location data
No third-party analytics. No ads. No data brokers. Not now, not ever.
How your data is stored
Cloud data is stored in Firebase Firestore (Google Cloud), which is encrypted at rest and in transit. Access to your data is scoped to your account only — no one else can read it. The only third-party services Recurly uses are Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, both operated by Google.
Household sharing
If you create or join a household (max 2 members), your household partner can only see subscriptions you explicitly mark as shared. Private subscriptions stay private. Neither member can access the other's account data directly.
Your data, your control
You can delete everything at any time:
- Settings → Clear All Data removes all local data from your device
- Settings → Delete Account permanently deletes your account and all associated data from Firebase servers
Deletion is immediate and permanent. We don't retain backups of your personal data after deletion.
Children's privacy
Recurly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it promptly.
This policy may be updated if Recurly's features change significantly. Any material changes will be noted in the app.
